University of Rochester

I am currently going into my third year at the University of Rochester. I've aquired a large amount of technical knowledge through my course work, taking classes such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Computational Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Organization, Mobile App Development, and Web Development. I am also a TA and Workshop Leader for CSC170 - Introduction to Web Development, where I assist Professor Andrew Read-McFarland in teaching students the fundamentals of web design.

Club Lacrosse

As the vice president of the University of Rochester Club Lacrosse team, I was responsible for organizing practices, games, and tournaments. As we started the team in 2021, I also helped build our squad by recruiting people to join our organization. With no standing coach, I also took a leadership role during our practice times, helping to run drills and teach new players the fundamentals of lacrosse. I have been playing lacrosse for over 14 years, so the sport has been a large part of my identity for most of my life, and getting the oppurtunity to continue with it through college has been extremely exciting.

Viola

I have been playing the viola for around 11 years now. I was first influenced to play by my music teacher in 4th grade, and have continued my practice into college. In high school, I qualified for the PMEA All-District, Region, and State festivals. At the University of Rochester, I have been a member of the River Campus Chamber Orchestra, where I have helped lead sectionals, attend rehersals, and participate in concerts. Our group recently received the LIT Category Performance of the Year award for our recording of Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy as well as GRAMMY consideration. When I am back home, I am a volunteer musician at Grace Lutheran Church, which I have been attending my entire life.

Tic-Tac-Toe Artificial Intelligence Android Appp

I implemented the minimax algorithm in Kotlin, as well as a heuristic minimax with alpha-beta pruning, which plays the game Tic-Tac-Toe against a user and is ultimately unbeatable. I used Android Studio to write Fragments, Activities, View Models, and XML files. I also calculated that alpha-beta pruning leads to an increase in efficiency by roughly 400%.

Student Database

I used C to implement a database for combinations of entities related to a student’s name, ID number, address, courses, a student’s grade in the course, and the time, date, and room of a course. I also Wrote search queries to answer questions related to the data set and developed functions to apply relational database specific operations (selection, projection, and join).

OCaml Translator

I wrote a compiler in OCaml that translates a grammar-specific program into runnable C code. I used this as an opportunity to familiarize myself with one of the most relevant functional programming languages in the industry. When run, the program converts the code into an annotated syntax tree, then to C code. It is succesful in printing error messages as well.
